What is IMM 1344 form?

The IMM 1344 form is a Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking form which helps you to sponsor your relative's or close family member's immigration to Canada. If you want to become a sponsor, you must be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident living in Canada.

IMM 1344 instruction guide

Read the  following instruction guide to complete the IMM 1344 pdf application package:

  • After downloading the latest form (2019), you can fill it and save it on your computer. Please note that in order to fill or edit the file you will need to have Adobe Reader software with version 10 or higher. In addition, you also need to turn on JavaScript.
  • Remember that while filling out the IMM 1344 form on a computer, you lessen the risk of possible delays in the processing of your application since it is simple to correct mistakes while working on a computer.
  • Also, should you have problems with downloading your file, you can save it to your computer by right click + "save target as…"

You will need to validate the document you have filled out in order to complete the application. Then print and put signature and date on the document. Clicking on the "validate" button will automatically create barcodes and a signature line in the last page.

You may want to use the document checklist in order to leave no form unfilled.

How to pay the associated fees?

When you submit your application you will need to cover the fee with it. If you don't know how to pay your fees, then you can find the instructions here.

Lastly, you can mail your completed and signed application package using the mailing instructions in the guide.

Form IMM 1344 enables Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their spouses. Later, a sponsored person can apply for immigration to Canada based on family class sponsorship programs.

The Canadian Government supports its citizens and permanent residents over 18 to sponsor their family members; and certain relatives for immigrating to Canada. In general, if you wish to become a sponsor for your relative, you will need to provide supporting documents that confirm that you and the sponsored party have a valid relationship. Please note that on situation or circumstances you may be required to submit additional forms too.
